How a power cut sparked the birth of Bizzbug!
A relatively cloudy spring day in 2008 and a group of people were getting ready for their monthly marketing meeting.
Howard Graham, Partner in City accountancy practice, successful ‘serial’ entrepreneur, and Founder and CEO of award winning and multi-million pound t/o The Made Simple Group, was chairing the meeting, along with fellow directors, internal managers and external consultants. The monthly meeting of minds was about to commence.
Everyone was prepared and ready to go – but then… what, no power? A major power cut in the City of London meant that electricity in the majority of offices in EC1 was cut. And so – with no knowledge as to how long the power cut would continue – the consensus was to continue the meeting without power.
With 80% of the meeting agenda requiring online access – what could be covered offline was covered off – and that left the group with allocated time to actually start talking. Talk got round to discussing a popular social networking site – what was wrong with it, what was great about it and audience sectors. And that led the team to start conceptualising and brainstorming…
And hence the idea that is now Bizzbug was born.
Of course, ideas are great, but are nothing but ideas without dedicated implementation.
This is where Howard’s relationship with computer scientists and developers, System 7 came in very useful.
System 7, reputable and leading digital publishers with an extensive portfolio of complex information portals, were working with The Made Simple Group on another venture. Howard discussed the idea of Bizzbug with System 7’s founder, Dominic Williams. And together the two became the driving force behind what Bizzbug is today.
