Bizzbug Central
This page provides general help on using bizzbug. For further help topics and other support resources visit
Bizzbug Central.
Dashboard
A lot can happen on Bizzbug, and your Dashboard helps keep you in touch. At the top of the page your
site notification messages are displayed. These range from simple welcome messages
to people inviting you to join groups or wanting to exchange contact cards with you. The dashboard
also displays notifications originating from forums and blogs, for example when somebody
replies to a posting you made, or when you have registered to be notified about something. Other
useful features on the Dashboard include quick links to the groups you have joined, and
the list of users you have bookmarked - so you can reach groups and people you are interested in
with just a single click.
Profile
The profile area is at the core of Bizzbug. Bizzbug profiles can contain multiple
rich profile pages, general pages, content and powerful features - like blogs, forums, folders,
albums and calendars - that you can add at any time you like. The first step many new users take
is to create a great new profile page telling the world who they are or what they offer (to do this,
simply click through to the Pages section in your Profile, and then select "New profile page"). In
Bizzbug you can control exactly who can access every element of your profile using your permissions
(accessible from the top-right menu links when logged in). So go on, create a public profile for business, some
info pages about your favorite topics, and private forums to discuss office gossip and football!
Network
On a social network, you add other users to your friends list. Bizzbug is more of
a connection tool, and the neat thing is you can add anyone you like to your Network, which is
kept private and works more like a contacts list. Adding other Bizzbug users is a cinch -
simply click "Add as contact" on their summary page or invite them to exchange contact cards with you
- but you can also upload your entire contacts list, for example using CSV or the Outlook Contacts
Synchronizer tool. Once in your Network, contact cards can be organized by assigning relationships,
such "Family", "Colleague" or "Customer", and custom tags such as "saturday football" or
"Acme, Inc." which are displayed in a tag cloud. This makes it possible to find and select contacts
in a few clicks, no matter how big your contact list, and then apply useful actions like
sending email from your @Bizzbug.com address.
Bizzbug automatically links contact cards to corresponding Bizzbug user accounts if they exist,
and you can use your Permissions to grant access to your profile and other things to
contacts that have specific relationships and tags.
Groups
One of the best features of Bizzbug, is that it allows you to create and manage any number of private and
public groups for your needs. These function a bit like user accounts - each group has its own
profile to which you can add information pages, blogs, folders, forums, shared calendar events and
other items - and if your group gets big you can control access to its various parts using
member tags, and even delegate administration responsibility by giving other members special tags
like "Owner",
"Administrator" and "Moderator" (the exact effect depends upon the group permissions you set).
Tagging also gives you a simple way of keeping track of things where needed - for example, to run a
paid club using a Bizzbug group consider keeping track of
membership fees using a "Paid Up 09" tag!
